So we made the hard decision
And we each made an incision
Past our muscles and our bones
Our hearts were little stones

Pulled ‘em out they weren’t beating
And we weren’t even bleeding
As we lay them on our granite counter top

We beat ‘em up against each other
We beat ‘em up against each other
We struck ‘em hard against each other
We struck ‘em so hard, so hard til they sparked

I cried the first time I heard this song. Never in my whole life have I heard such accurate lyrics that described my feelings. Wuhu, Regina Spektor, I love you. I dedicate this song to the “older guy”. I know it will be a long time before we will see each other again. Nothing to do left but wait, I guess? We will meet again somehow. And when that happens, I wish it will be under wonderful circumstances.

How can I forget your love?

How can i never see you again?

There is a time and place

for one more sweet embrace

and there is a time oh when it all oh went wrong

I guess you know by now

that we will meet again somehow

Baby how can i begin again?

How can i try to love someone new,

Someone who isnt you

How can our love be true

when I’m not oh I’m not over you?

i guess you’ll know by now

that we will meet again somehow

Time can come and take away the pain

but i just want my memories to remain

To hear your voice, to see your face

There’s no one moment i’d erase

You are a guest here now

So baby how can i forget your love?

How can i never see you again?

How can I ever know

why some stay, others go

when I dont oh I dont want you to go

I guess i know by now

that we will meet again somehow

Time can come and wash away the pain

But i just want my mind to stay the same

To hear your voice, to see your face

There’s no one moment i’d erase

You are a guest here now

So baby how can i forget your love?

How can i never see you again?

35. My blog title “Ne me quitte pas” is a French phrase that means “do not leave me”. It is also a Regina Spektor song.
